I worked for about twenty-five years in Ontario, Canada where I was a registered social worker. Most of my work has been at community–based counselling agencies. I have also worked at Mental Health teaching centers where I gained experience in working with anxiety, depression and PTSD.
My PhD research was in the area of group work. My dissertation was on teaching forgiveness in stress and anger management groups.
My Master of Social Work is from the University of Toronto where I had a University of Toronto Fellowship scholarship. My placement was done at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health within the forensic division.
In the last ten years I have started to do more clinical supervision. I have supervised many MSW Social Workers and counselors in Master programs. Part of my experience was gained as a clinical manager and supervisor of counselors and addiction support workers.
Some of my other areas of interest include conflict resolution and mediation; substance use recovery and overcoming challenging family of origin issues.
I am currently studying ministry and theology in a MDiv program where I received an entrance scholarship. As part of this program, I am doing a ministry student placement at a local church. I also stay busy by doing pulpit supply at a few other local churches. One of my favorite topics is integrating theology and psychology.
