Pastor Terry Somerville had been traveling as a teacher and revivalist through the nations for five years, when a complete radio station was offered to him. He turned it down three times but then the Lord spoke and the money miraculously came to purchase it. In 2010 CHVI 88.7 Spirit FM began broadcasting in Campbell River BC. Spirit FM is owned by Total Change Christian Ministries.

We are moving our transmitter site the Wei Wai Kai First Nations at Cape Mudge across the water from Campbell River, and replacing our old equipment. This is quite expensive, please consider helping us financially.”

From the beginning, Spirit FM would have the same mandate as my ministry in the nations - the miracle power of the love and blessing of God through Christ. "The Love Anointing". Campbell River was in a financial disaster when we started. The mill had closed, the men were going to Alberta to work, the housing market had collapsed. I began to declare and prophetically pray God's blessing on the air, like this. "Lord, you love our city and we bless the Campbell River in Jesus' name. Send large financial projects to us in Jesus' name!" Within months the province announces the building of a new hydro station worth 1.2 billion dollars! We kept going and the new hospital was announced, and it continues to this day! We've declared God's blessing over the fish and have seen record returns to the river! We've declared God's blessing over the City hall and staff and now the City of Campbell River is winning awards and even the mayor is a sought after speaker!
Greetings, I'm Terry Somerville, General Manager of Spirit FM and director of Total Change Christian Ministries, the parent organization doing international ministry.
My wife Karen and I, and our four children have been in Campbell River for over twenty years. I've been in full time ministry as a pastor, itinerant evangelist in many countries, a Christian television host, and now director of Spirit FM. My calling is to preach, and my talent is music and technology! Quite a preparation for Christian radio. In case anyone wonders I also have two university degrees. I own a local company to help pay the bills - but radio is truly a full time job!
My passion is to see the church rise up and fulfill her destiny! We are called to be a unique people, filled with Gods love, being salt and light to the world. A blessing and fragrance of life to those being saved. Your life IS your ministry! I pray that Christian radio will help us change the spiritual atmosphere of Campbell River and bless the city!
