Matthew 7:26 Everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not act on them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand.
Have you noticed, as of late, that the marketplace is evolving at lightning speed? What we once knew is gone, or we have had to change how we do our tasks. Younger entrepreneurs are immersed in the things of today, yet I am sure they, too, find the constant change difficult.
As we try to mold our businesses to model this new world of economic and technological change, we as Christians, must continue to be aware the enemy’s reign in the marketplace. If the enemy can keep our eyes on the ever-changing platforms, he can erode our foundations.
In this new season it is time to check the foundation our business is built on, or we won’t weather the storms that are to come. If our focus continues to solely be on building all new structures, and ways to do business in today’s climate, we may forget to ensure that as we build our businesses up, they are a very solid foundation.
Terry and I are not immune to this, just because our business is focused on Christians in the marketplace. We too have had many steep learning curves and created new systems to keep operating. But we always remember that the foundation of our business is on the cornerstone of Christ. We haven’t forgotten that in tough financial times, God is our provider not our business. Also, that all the systems we are creating need to produce an excellent product, because we are an example of Christ in the marketplace. Everything we do has to be done with integrity and honesty, no matter that the other route would make life simpler in the moment.
If we can remember that God called us into the marketplace, and we continue to build on that solid foundation, then no matter the struggle (and there will be many, because we have a whole spiritual realm fighting against our success) we will come out victorious.
We used to say in sales, keep your eye on the prize and you will succeed. I find that true today more than ever before. My eye is on building the kingdom of heaven and while I do that, I will bring a bit of heaven into the marketplace where darkness needs illumination the most.
