Home Manager Position for Gianna Home

House Manager Role
We are a new community initiative in Sarnia Ontario, looking for a detail-oriented and focused
House Manager to be responsible for operational aspects of Gianna Home; an environment
committed to supporting mothers and their babies. This will be a part – time position with the
potential for full-time.
Duties include supervising support workers who are providing resident care and mentoring, as
well as direct responsibilities for staff/volunteer scheduling, training, and ensuring that
household support (cleaning, shopping, safety) activities are being carried out.
A successful candidate will have a proven track record of managing a team in a congregate
setting.
Strong time management, team building, mentoring and organizational skills are essential.
In addition to overseeing house activities and maintaining accurate records in accordance with
policies and applicable legislation, the house manager will provide training to other staff
(employees and volunteers) related to the operation of the home.
The house manager will also provide some direct care, support, and teaching for residents –
pregnant women and post – partum mothers – from pre-arrival to post-departure stages of their
residency.
The salary negotiation begins at $25,000 depending on qualifications and experience.
Responsibilities:
● Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly environment for the residents; supervises and/or
performs general housekeeping; and follows cleaning schedules.
● Follows policies, standards and procedures for operating the home and handling
emergency situations.
● Provides guidance to other staff (and/or directly to residents) with activities of daily living,
including but not limited to infant feeding, bathing, dressing.
● Mentors and encourages residents to do as much of their own personal care as possible
and to prepare them for independent living.
● Maintains records in accordance with policies. This includes documenting medication
distribution as applicable, as well as tracking incidents and inspections.
● Responsible for scheduling visits (counseling, support agencies) to the home and
keeping records of family visits and resident appointments.

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:
● Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree preferred in a relevant field of study.
● Candidates with ‘lived experience’ (work/volunteer) and training may be considered.
● Direct experience in a congregate home environment would be an asset.
● Valid First Aid, CPR/AED certification is required.
● Current police check with a vulnerable sector required.
